George has been qualified as a doctor for 32 years. He graduated from University College Cork, School of Medicine in 1983 before working as a non-consultant hospital doctor in Cork and Dublin.

He completed his specialist training in General Practice in Gloucester, England, in 1988.

He worked in Australia in General Practice in 1989/90. Returning to Ireland, he worked in Kilkee, Co. Clare as a GP for 91/2 years. He then moved to Cobh and has been working in Cobh as a GP for 25 years. He moved to the New Primary Care Centre, Ticknock, in June 2023. He is a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners and the Irish Medical Council, and his special area of interest is family Medicine.
