Receptionist/Administrator, Lucan




  • Locations: Wexford, Dublin, Dundalk and Drogheda
  • Proposed start: As soon as possible
  • Hours: Various hours available to a maximum of 40 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Days and times dependent of location and availability of the candidate.


Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Using technical equipment to safely draw blood from patients

    ·      Explaining the process of drawing blood clearly to a patient

    ·      Reassuring nervous patients

    ·      Applying dressings to the wound created by drawing blood

    ·      Registering the blood and storing it in the correct environment

    ·      Sending blood samples to testing laboratories

    ·      Keeping track of blood samples and results that are returned after testing

    ·      Updating patient records

    ·      Maintaining an organised and clean work area based on health and safety regulations and the guidelines of the medical institution 

    ·      Answering patient questions regarding collection techniques and offering additional resources

    ·      Completed Sharps training and familiar with Sharps Policy and HCW immunisation Policy

    ·      Takes responsibility for own immunisation status and informs manager/employer

    ·      Communicating any clinical issues with their clinical advisor (Nurse/Doctor)

    ·      Noting and reporting any potential vulnerable patient or child protection issues promptly and in line with their training and obligations to their supervising Nurse/Doctor


Position Requirements:

  • Must hold recognised qualification in phlebotomy and be proficient in this area
  • Must hold recognised qualification in clinical skills as outlined in roles and responsibilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and telephone skills
  • Computer literate
  • Commitment to courteous, sincere and sensitive patient service
  • Commitment to quality and excellent patient care in the practice
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Flexibility with working location
  • Ability to work well within a team and to liaise with nurses and doctors
