Strategic Alliance between Global Diagnostics
Announcement of Strategic Alliance between Centric Health and Global Diagnostics Ltd. 10th July 2008
Ireland’s leading primary healthcare company Centric Health today announced a strategic alliance with Global Diagnostics Ltd, a leading radiology provider with interests in Ireland, the UK and Australia (where it operates as Imaging the South).
The agreement formally adds radiology expertise to the expanding Centric Health’s portfolio of Primary Health service streams in Ireland. It also opens further opportunities for the Irish company within Australia and the UK, where Global Diagnostics has a significant presence.
Both companies have a strong record of success in their areas of expertise. They share a common set of core values with a focus on operational excellence and a passion to develop and deliver the highest possible care to their patients.
Centric Health provides a range of innovative primary healthcare services including Urgent Care, Health Screening, Occupational Medical Services and GP services while Global Diagnostics provides radiology and tele-radiolgy services. The partnership will thus improve accessibility of patients to timely and convenient radiology services within the community.
Global Diagnostics has been providing community radiology (x-ray and ultrasound) services on behalf of the HSE in the Primary Care Centre in Arklow. The contract was awarded following the completion of an open tendering process in October ‘07 and marked a new departure in radiology service delivery to the HSE and Ireland as a whole.
Global Diagnostics is also providing radiology services across the Centric Health Group’s health operations, to the Vhi SwiftCare Clinic in Swords and will also be a service supplier to the new SwiftCare Clinic due to open at Mahon Point, Cork at the end of the summer.
The agreement also enables Centric Health to further expand its principally primary care service to include the provision of tele-radiology services to the secondary care sector (hospitals, clinics, etc). Tele-radiology can assist Hospital Radiology Departments through the provision of additional radiology reporting capacity. The service utilises cutting edge remote technologies to facilitate access to a wide range of specialist radiologists 24 hour hours a day, thus enhancing the service hospitals provide to their patients.
Dr Maurice Cox, CEO of Centric Health, said: “Global Diagnostics has an excellent reputation in Australia and the UK and the company fitted in very well with the Centric Health values and practices. A natural synergy existed from the outset and in particular with our new colleague and Global Diagnostics founder Dr Johnny Walker.
“We are extremely pleased with the conclusion of an agreement which will benefit both our patients, employees and stakeholders. It provides another piece in the primary care jigsaw for our patients and further enhances the service that we can provide to them across each of our existing clinical service lines”.
Dr Ray Power, Medical Director of Centric Health, added: “We are delighted to welcome so many international colleagues to our staff and are looking forward to expanding our business within Ireland and internationally. Both companies are passionate about developing and delivering the highest possible care to our patients, improving the overall patient experience and potentially alleviating some of the challenges within the healthcare system”.
Dr Johnny Walker, Founder of Global Diagnostics said:” I am delighted with the opportunity that this agreement presents for the strategic development of Global Diagnostics and Imaging the South in Australia. The three companies have parallel aspirations and values and there was an obvious synergy from our very first meeting.
“Becoming part of the Centric Health team will allow us to further develop our existing markets in Australia, the UK and Ireland and to explore further global opportunities. This growth is enhanced through Locumotion, Centric Health’s medical recruitment business. It will provide recruitment and placement of medical imaging radiographers, ultrasonographers and MRI technicians to support the various projects and initiatives we will be embarking upon both within Ireland and internationally.”
