Global Diagnostics is a leading international provider of diagnostic imaging services and provides radiology services to public and private providers and improves the access to quality diagnostics imaging for patients whilst also reducing the costs to providers.

In addition to providing radiology services in the community through stand alone clinics, we also work in partnership with healthcare partners in hospitals, private and community medical centres to devise bespoke, cost effective and complementary service solutions which are designed around the specific needs of their patients.
Global Diagnostics is well positioned to service both public and private clients in need of radiology reporting expertise either to supplement their current local workforce or to provide some additional sub-speciality niche expertise in disciplines that cannot be sourced locally. Our web-based technology allows hospitals and clinics from around the world to have direct and immediate access to diagnostic expertise irrespective of how large or small the healthcare facility may be or what time zone they may operate within. The Global Diagnostics Virtual Diagnostic Network operates 24 hours a day across all time zones. Global Diagnostics has over 120 radiologists linked into its web-based Global-Link RIS-PACS network and has serviced over 2.5 million patients within its international virtual network.
With the benefit of sophisticated voice recognition technology and patient workflow systems, digital images are able to be transmitted seamlessly between the imaging centre and the reporting radiologist for immediate review. The Global Radiology Remote Reporting Team are linked electronically with the medical imaging technologist and the referring clinician through web-based VOIP teleconferencing, SMS and blackberry systems to provide a fully integrated diagnostic service.
Background to Global Diagnostics
Global Diagnostics originally started out as Imaging The South over 15 years ago in Western Australia and has now become a leading international provider of diagnostic imaging services. Originally founded by Dr Johnny Walker, his inspiration to set up the company was based on his belief that people in rural and regional communities should have access to the highest standard of diagnostic imaging services previously only available in metropolitan areas.
From humble beginnings in Bunbury in Western Australia, the company’s vision to capitalize on emerging technologies to improve service delivery has seen the company grow to become a national operation. On the back of the success in Western Australia, Dr Walker recognised that demand for the innovative service was not constrained to Australia’s borders. In 2001, the model was exported to the UK and from there to Ireland in 2007 as Global Diagnostics. In 2008, Global Diagnostics Irish, UK and Australian businesses became part of Centric Health and in 2010, the original company Imaging The South rebranded as Global Diagnostics.
Scale of Global Diagnostics Services
Since inception, we have performed over 2.8million cases with 90% of the referrals being GP drive and 72% government funded.We have established a broad foot print of public and private services across our three core markets in Ireland, the UK and Australia.
In Australia, we provide services to WACHS (Western Australia Country Health Service) and private medical facilities, public hospitals and community centres in Western Australia and Queensland. We also operate a series of stand alone medical imaging practices across Western Australia.
In the UK, Global provides radiology and teleradiology services to the NHS, independent managed hospitals and medical facilities and also operates a series of stand alone medical imaging practices. We have recently been successful in winning a number of significant contracts including the provision of radiology services to Leicestershire County and Rutland Primary Care Trust Community Services.
In Ireland, Global Diagnostics provides the first public outsourced procurement of community-based diagnostics by the Health Services Executive to the independent sector in Wicklow. Since the introduction of this service in February 2008, the waiting times and report turnaround times for local GP's has been dramatically reduced. We also provide x-ray and ultrasound services to the Vhi SwiftCare Clinics (Balally, Swords and DCU), MRI services to the Hermitage Clinic, ultrasound services to the new Mallow Primary Care Centre and Mobile Ultrasound services to ‘The Well’ Raheny Medical and Ranelagh Medical.
