Diagnostic Imaging

Global Diagnostics is a radiology and teleradiology service that provides diagnostic imaging services across the Centric Health Group and to private and public hospitals, urgent care and community health centres in Ireland, Western Australia and the UK.

The company currently has over 120 radiologists linked into its web-based Global-Link RIS-PACS network and has serviced over 2.8 million patients within its international virtual network.

The company is well positioned to service both public and private clients in need of radiology reporting expertise either to supplement their current local workforce or to provide some additional sub-speciality niche expertise in disciplines that cannot be sourced locally. The web-based technology allows hospitals and clinics from around the world to have direct and immediate access to such diagnostic expertise irrespective of how large or small the healthcare facility may be or what time zone they may operate within. The Global Diagnostics Virtual Diagnostic Network operates 24 hours a day across all time zones.

With the benefit of sophisticated voice recognition technology and patient workflow systems, digital images are able to be transmitted seamlessly between the imaging centre and the reporting radiologist for immediate review. The Global Radiology Remote Reporting Team are linked electronically with the medical imaging technologist and the referring clinician through web-based VOIP teleconferencing, SMS and blackberry systems to provide a fully integrated diagnostic service.

The Global Remote Radiology Reporting Team participate in all Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings of the client facility thereby playing a key role in creating open dialog with all members of the clinical management team on a regular and structured basis.

The company was founded fifteen years ago by Consultant Radiologist Dr Johnny Walker as 'Imaging the South'. Its mission was to provide radiology and teleradiology services to rural and remote parts of Western Australia. By using innovative technology, 'Imaging the South' was able to bring global expertise and services to previously inaccessible and remote areas. Today, the company continues to operate and grow its operation across Western Australia and now operates in 35 centres providing radiography and teleradiology services. The company has performed over 2.5 million cases since inception with 97% of the referrals being GP drive and 72% government funded. Global commenced operation in the UK in 2001 and now operates a series of 4 "Global Clinics" across the country. It also provides teleradiology servics to a range of public and private hospitals and community centres and has recently been successful in winning a number of significant contracts including the provision of radiology services to Leicestershire County and Rutland Primary Care Trust Community Services.

In Ireland, Global Diagnostics also provides the first public outsourced procurement of community-based diagnostics by the Health Services Executive to the independent sector in Wicklow. Since the introduction of this service in February 2008, the waiting times and report turnaround times for local GP's has been dramatically reduced. We also provide x-ray and ultrasound services to the  Vhi SwiftCare Clinics (Balally, Swords, Cork and DCU), MRI services to the Hermitage Clinic and and Mobile Ultrasound services to ‘The Well’ Raheny Medical, Ranelagh Medical and Churchtown Medical.

Centric Health formed a joint venture with Global Diagnostics Ireland in August 2007 and following this successful arrangement, completed a merger of the complete international operations into Centric Health in June 2008.
